Yearly Maintenance of Earth Pit & Installation
The purpose of this test is to detect and locate high resistance joints, which are a typical result of corrosion in exposed conductor systems.
All metallic parts in electrical equipment are grounded then if the insulation inside the equipment fails there are no dangerous voltages present in the equipment case.

Testing Procedure
- We are having both analog & digital testers.
- We check both individual & combined values.
- Check the bolt & nut is affected in corrosive problem, we will remove it & fix new one.
- Good earth pit resistance value is 3 ohm, earth pit resistance value is increased above the limit or not shown and we found earth pit is broken in condition needed to replace & install the new earth pit.
- We will do civil work also

- Earth Pit Excavation Bore of 9 feet depth (accure dia 250mm) of hole digged in the ground.
- Base 1 feet of coal and salt to be filled.
- Cast iron pipe 100 mm dia x 10mm thick and 8 feet length,
- 12.5 mm hole in between one feet to another feet with charcoal and salt as per standard IS: 3043 –1987 the pipe is installed in the correct position.
- One step layer of coal, another step layer of salt was filled. Required water was filled with coal and salt in the pipe.
- Seven feet was filled with coal and salt, approximately eighty Kilograms . On feet has been left out of the chamber
- The individual value (0Ω– 3Ω) was noted before built the chamber
- Old earth pit line has been matched with copper flat of 25 * 3 mm wherever required.
- The hole was filled with coal, salt, sand in layer wise till the top level of the pipe and built the concrete chamber with the help of bricks and cement and closed with proper cover of 2 feet length,
- 2 feet width and marked for identification.
